How do you describe a person who is a certified internet addict? How may hours does he or she necessarily spend on the internet? But most important of all, what does she do there?

Its an interesting thought Kheyanne - I don't know if there is a standard before it is an addiction and will vary from person to person I guess - but you would think there would be some type of defined standard somewhere

I spend around 4-5 hours almost daily on internet .At one point I used to spend more than 8-9 hours of my day on the net .Even though I have brought down the hours on net I would still consider myself an internet addict.It's perhaps not just the number of hours we spend here.Apart from the hours spent ,I think I am in the addict club because I go berserk when my internet doesn't connect for more than 4-5 hours.I keep calling my ISP to get it fixed like I am going to miss my flight if the server issue isn't immediately addressed. Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often.As for the time spent on internet,I'd say anything more than 8 hours ,unless you are working on internet , is an addiction.However,if someone is earning from the net then the parameters change.

Well how would you describe an Alcoholic? Someone who depends on Alcohol. I'm probably thinking that someone who is an internet addict is someone who depends on the internet, probably going with a few hours usage everyday, you know, the whole "get up, turn the PC on - have an hour before work" routine.

I guess I'm an internet addict then. :)

Frankly, I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a Certified Internet Addict. I spend a lot of time on the Internet, but most of it is work related. I do read my emial, and surf a bit, I don't think I am addicted.

How is one certified addicted to the internet?

Well there is no certain method who certified internet addict but I think if someone spend much time on net and stay away from friends and family is fit in this addiction. Many people spend more than 12 hours and more. Those are 100% internet addict.

Hard to say ,junglebunny.It's a moot topic.I guess one who sleeps hugging his laptop instead of the pillow and dreams of fighting the goons on cyberspace is an internet addict ,lol.Jokes apart, I think anyone who gets frustrated for being kept away from the net for more than 3-4 hours could be an internet addict.People working on the net can't be included in the list or perhaps I am keeping a backdoor open to be safe,lol.
