My kids use bit torrent to download music and I have told them that they must do it but they continue anyway thier hard drives are full of music that they will never listen to in a month of sundays.

Should I just delete the whole lot and if I do how do I stop them doing it again?

Sounds like they are sort of addicted to collecting. Are they also the type who want to get all the Pokemon and collect every baseball card in a set. Kids really have a need to posess everything. It is almost like OCD although most of them grow out of it. But you have a regular punishment problem. If they can't be trusted with the computer I'd take them away from them until they can be more responsible.

I was like that at one point.I used to download music the whole day using the software Kazaa .It was only after my computer crashed due to the viruses that came with the downloads that I quit using the software and that took care of my music addiction too.

Well, you could always block the ports that the torrent program uses to download from, you could set certain permissions on the program that they're using.
Depending on what country you're in, it couldbe counted as being illegal to download those files, and, if you're caught with the files on your pc then you could be in for a rather hefty fine.

Well those torrent softwares and some other P2P software would be harmful for your system. So avoid use of torrents because it is illegal way to download music from the net.
