The average person spend 22 days online in the UK and in the US they spend about 28 days online which accounts for the highest users online but Japan is the leader in Broadband speed and did you know that people with Broadband speed more time then dail up users online

Where did you get your information from, I would like to go and review it as well.

You ask about people knowing that broadband users spend more time online than dial up, that it very clear who would want to be online with dial up now anyway. It is slow and people lose interest when they are being disconnected and things take too long.

I see what you mean. With Broadband, you can access websites quickly, which would make addicts more... addicted. Dial up is very slow and frustrating.

With the point about US and UK, I also agree.

It's probably more of a problem in the west because there are probably more households that have computers in them, and, as you say, broadband, which makes surfing so much easier.

I'm curious as to where the information came from, also. I hear statistics thrown around all the time, and I'm a little skeptical as to their validity.

Yes, i have to agree that most of the internet addictions come from either the US or the UK mainly US in my opinion and i agree with your second statement that "people with broadband spend more time then dail up users" since dial up is slower you'll be like god dammit whats the point in waiting for this and you might go downstairs or somthing ;P.

Well this is not for Japan, US or UK but it's a worldwide problems and Broadband user have fast speed so they can really enjoy their internet surfing rather than Dail up users.

I agree that broadband users tend to spend more time online than dialup users.This could result in internet addiction .But I don't agree that most of the internet addicts come from US or UK.It's a misplaced generalisation in my opinion.In a research it was found that people from Denmark spend the maximum hours online.The number of surfers are also growing in the asian countries.The west might have a significant number of population using the net ,but to say that it tops the internet addiction would not be correct.

Of course you will find more people addicted in those countries as they are the most populated countries in the world. So the statistics will be higher, but what you have to really look at is the percentage. If you have 300,000 people in the US, and 100,000 in the UK but only 10,000 in some smaller country you could still have the same percentage of people addicted. So the numbers only count when it comes to the actual percetage that it works out to be.

I spend all my time online abut i don't consider myself an addict. I use mainly internet for business and make some money. People at Us and Uk Seems to be online for anither reason that is why most of them are considered online addicts.

This is true but other countries like India is also coming close to them. With internet now available cheaply and unlimited plans which have night advantage have been main cause of this problem. ISP's provide better speed and facilities in night.

I'm quite surprised that Korea isn't in the top 2, they have excellent low-price broadband and internet gaming is a huge subculture over there. There are quite a lot of MMORPGs of Korean origin, like NosTale and FlyFF.

As for that 22 days thing, that a total of 530 hours a year?

Give or take. Quite a lot, but I'm on like, 10-12 hours, to 530 hours is nothing to me.

Wait, NosTale and FlyFF are Korean? That's news, guess I'll go looking for the Korean server, hopefully a server full of die-hard MMO enthusiasts will be more entertaining then the servers I'm playing.

I'm surprised if a surfer could survive a online surfing in a dial up connection this days? most website are dynamic in design and have lots of load to stream so a dial up will just get you frustated, Broadband will let you have the luxury of surfing faster and loading times ia far greater. and broadband this days are really cheap so most people are always online.
