I used to, however I usually just listen to music on my computer, and so use a website called radioblogclub instead of downloading it :)

A few years backI used a software calledKazaa to download all kinds of music videos , but the downside was that I used to get alot of bugs along with the downloads and I had to remove the software.Since then I don't download much music.I usually either purchase the cds or borrow them from my friends and burn them.

Yeah I don't do a lot of music downloading any more for the same reason. I have had to wipe my drive several times because of that.

I have downloaded through places like iTunes. I have also got free download through promotions and free trials. But I don't download from other sites that I don't know about.

This is the problem you get when you try to get something for nothing. It's a risk.

Its a very bad thing top do cause the person who has made the music is not getting paid for his work and its art also , this is very wrong thing to do , I never do this .

I guess that downloading music could get addictive, especially if you're just downloading for the sake of downloading, and not because you specifically want to listen to the music.

That I do agree with, your downloading habits (free music) is cheating the artist out of their money. I think that their right of earning money for you downloading their music is only fair. But these days people don't think about those things.

What's funny about this to me is that when bands and musicians are just starting out and trying to get their name out there, before the business side of music grabs a hold of them, they are begging for people to listen to their songs for free and even give out their demos left and right to people they want to become future fans. Then of course when they make it big time, their attitudes completely change and everyone must pay pay pay for their music. When I used to download music, it was usually to hear a few songs off an album that I would consider buying anyways. If I liked what I heard, then I would buy the cd. If not then at least they had more people listening to their music right?

I am not condoning downloading music illegally. I just think that in the long run it could possibly help their sales if people downloaded just to see if they liked what they heard, and then ended up buying their cd.

I had a friend back when Napster was in its prime that downloaded over 5,000 songs. It got to where he was downloading songs every day. Then when the lawsuits started, he stopped downloading. So I would not say his behavior was addictive, since he did quit without too many problems, but I think it could have become that had there been no lawsuits to scare him.

Yes, Kazaa is quite notorious for spyware, the program itself had it, when that news came out, it's popularity hit rock-bottom.

I just listen to internet radio, let's just say that I love Kawaii Radio just now, especially when they play DNAngel music. <3

I use LimeWire to satisfy all my cravings for new music, even though it does cause viruses and such.  I now have a laptop just for limewire because I don't want to ruin any other computers.  I've heard about people getting caught up with the law for downloading music, but it's never happend to anyone I know.... knock knock!  I don't really think downloading music could be an addiction, it's just a new way of obtaining music.  I remember when you could first start burning Cds, people would have binders and binders full of music. Some poeple regard music as their passion, I don't think it's an addiction though.

I've always thought of music as a passion as well and not an addiction. But I think the point may be just the thrill of downloading something free, and having millions of songs right at your fingertips, could become quite addictive.

I do agree with this but I also think that itunes asks way too much. I mean $.99 a song, to get the songs that you really enjoy that week itll cost you like $10. Why is anyone going to end up spending that much on a song when they can just download it for free? I think if itunes lowered their prices then people may stop illegaly downloading music.

I agree with this. I think if itunes made each song like $0.25 each song it will lower a lot of the illegal downloaders. I really dont know one person who actually goes and buys their songs off itunes.

I used to download tons on iTunes, but looked in my Purchased playlist and saw how many songs I had bought and thought what a waste of money. Now I just tune into the radio or steal my friends cds to upload onto my computer.
