What got you to stop?
What got you to stop?

Well for me, it was my children. I have a 17yr old son, when he was around 12, he turned me, looked me in the eye and said "Mum, stop smoking.. It's damaging you" I know it's hard to believe, but I stopped then. It was too much for me to handle, looking him in the eyes.
How did you, or what made you consider stopping?
Vx.

I honestly don't know what got me to stop. I just decided enough is enough and I quit cold turkey. It was tough for a couple weeks and them I didn't even miss smoking. Whatever it was I'm glad I finally stopped.

I think quitting smoking would be very difficult to do without using the patch, gum, etc. It's hard enough to break any habit but when your body is physically addicted it makes it extremely hard. Also I think you would need some family support with this.

Yeah for some, gum and the patch helps them to quit but for myself it was just fighting off the craving after just stopping cold turkey. (Why do they call it "Cold Turkey" by the way). Every person needs to use whatever is neccessary to quit this deadly habit. Some should take a trip to the hospital and ask if they could visit patients with deseases from smoking. That might scare them to quit.

For me it was about my business. I am going for my degree in interior design and I realized it would look bad to clients if while on the job, I needed to go out for a smoke.
