On one of my previous attempts (there have been several) to lose the curse of smoking I tried hypnotherapy it worked for a few days and then I was puffing away again - Has hypnotherapy actually worked for any of you?

thanks

From personel experence I can say, yes, hypnosis does work. I did not use it to give up smoking, for me patches were the helping hand I needed, but I was part of Hyponotherapy research while at university. I did not expect it to work for me but it did.

Cold turkey is what worked for me. *Gobble gobble*

My opinion is that I would have to experience it first hand. Have never been hypnotized before.

You are put into a totally relaxed state and then your reasons for not wanted to smoke are highlighted to you and re-enforced, you are basically told you don't want to smoke anymore because it is pointless - it sounds odd but it really, really does work!

I have known a few people that have used this method to stop smoking and it did work, but evenetually after a few years other things caused them to start smoking again.

I have actually never experienced anyone ever being hypnotized and I have never been myself. I have let people try to hypnotize me and also I once went in for a regression. All I got was a little nap. I have also heard that hypnotherapy doesn't really hypnotize that it is just suggestion. Any actually go throught this offer some enlightenment?
