I tried for years to quit smoking when my ex-wife kept yelling at me to quit, but my heart really wasn't in it. When I met my present wife, she just asked me to use mouthwash before kissing her. Without having someone adamantly demanding I quit I was able to finally give up the coffin nails.

Well done on stopping.

Like most things in life it is only something you can do for yourself, not for someone else. No matter how much they may want to. Also if the only thing you feel is 'I should give up' (ie. guilt) rather than 'I want to give up' you will have problems.

Very good for you. Sometimes people around us are also helpful in having the will and discipline in quitting an addiction or a vice. In this situation, it's your present wife. Good Job. Let's hope more people find their own will power to quit their own addictions. Congratulations.

It is really impossible to stop smoking unless you really want it for your own reasons. Stopping for others just is not the answer no matter how much they want you to you have to want it for your self. If you have someone telling you to quit smoking vs. someone telling you to quit smoking for these reasons that is two very different cases. You will be able to take the latter and think about it, possibly coming up with other good reasons why you should stop.

I fully agree. You have to have your own reasons for stopping. I finally had gotten to that place in my life where the time was right.

Whatever!! B to the S!!! I think that you stopping for any reason deserves a HUGE kudos.

KUDOS!!!

Many times in life we need a motivator. If it is a girl you like, a job you want, a nice toy, whatever. It doesn't matter WHY you quit. If you are doing it for someone else, and it works. YEE HAW!! Cuz it is hard to do.

Just understand that you need to stay off the smokes because they were killing you. Sure you may have quit for someone else, but stay off of them for your own health.
