I have recently been getting help with Heart to Heart Ministries after my husband disclosed sex outside our marriage (again & again). Laurie Hollerman has been phone counseling with me. I asked my husband two times to call you at Heart to Heart ministries in order to STOP his behavior.(online, on the phone, and out in the communities) He refused, and has moved out ahead of the time I had given him to get some kind of help. I know he has about a 1-3 % chance of beating his compulisive sexual behavior if he deals with it alone. I am on the eve of filing for legal separation. We have a 4 year old son, and I have left our church-which seems to be enabling him. Recently, our pastors wife suggested that our situation is NOT really as bad as I am saying.( I have stated that our covenant is broken due to infidelity) Pastoral ignorance to the effects of compulsive sexual behavior slays me. Does your ministry have Spanish speaking counselors, or do you speak Spanish? That was his excuse NOT to call. I am overwhelmed with the grief his behavior has caused me, but will survive this. Have what I described to you sound like a man that wants help, but is afraid due to the shame? I know my questions may not have answers.
My concern is support for you. I am glad you are seeing Lori. As far as Spanish, the only book that would help that is available in Spanish is Sex, Men and God. Pastors are not trained in sexual addiction recovery for the most part. You can get him the DVD Ministering to the Sexually Addicted in the Church, but it is in English. Sorry to hear that your husband chose his addiction over you.
