Compulsive buying is still very much coming out of the closet. There are not yet enough specialized resources to help overshoppers. The only resource that I'm currently aware of in Southern California is the Impulse Control Disorders Clinic at UCLA, which is run by Tim Fong, M.D. Dr. Fong sees clients privately, and clients can also be seen through the clinic. Within the next week, I am launching a resource section on my website, www.stoppingovershopping.com. I'll be inviting people to tell us about any resources they know of and we will follow up. So it might be helpful to take a look at that section periodically, to see if an additional resource surfaces and if you find one, we'd love to know about it. In terms of a support group, I'd recommend trying out some Debtors Anonymous meetings in your area.
