My husband has a terrible drug and alcohol addiction for the past 28 yrs he becomes very violent, I had to be hospitalized due to his bad temper I am contemplating on getting a divorce, and presently he is incarcerated. Do you think he can change, he was in any and every drug program you can think of, he cheats, lies and steals, please advise me I don't want to get hurt again.

Please look at the reasons you are staying in this relationship. It does not sound very healthy, only abusive. Yes people can change if they have the desire to, but it sounds like your husband is not changing. There are some support groups I do suggest you look at in your area that can offer support and help.Your church if you go to one or AlAnon.
