A War Veteran's Addictions

Prof. Larry Ashley - 11/6/2007

I live in Las Vegas, as well, and I read an article about your work w/ Soldiers and PTSD/ Addiction in the RJ. I shared the article w/ my husband, and we were both amazed w/ your work, in fact, it gave us hope. My husband was in the military during the civil war in El Salvador in the 1980's, he is also an alcoholic, he would like to get help, he has been in/out of AA for years, but, it hasn't stuck. He has tried to gone to traditional therapy, but, it just didn't fit. We would like to know if you are in private practice, or can refer him to someone, that understands the connection between wartime trauma, and addiction. He does speak English, but, didn't feel comfortable enough w/ his writing skills, so that is why I am helping him w/ this letter. I hope you can help him, and us.

I am a firm believer the gambling can be a stress reliever from the effects of traumas including combat. While I do not take many clients anymore, your husband can call me at my office (702) ***-****.
