What do you do if someone you love has an alcohol abuse problem and you are uncertain they will get professional help but you know they need it. My mother has a problem and I feel so helpless. I think she realizes it but I don't think she is ready to take the next step. Other family members are unhelpful and I believe things are only going to get worse before they get better could the abuse be the result of many other things is counseling better than AA .. please help.
You know your mom needs help, she has a problem with alcohol. Please tell her how you feel from your heart and how her deinking is affecting you. We never know when anyone is ready until we ask them. There is always underlying issues that effect some ones behavior, they use it as a coping mechanism for reality. For most people the combination of both works. I suggest you also go to a 12 Step Program called AlAnon to get support from people going through similar situations.
