I have been experimenting with drugs lately. I have tired marijuana, ecstasy, and sometimes Vicodin. I am 15 and wondering what kind of long term effects this could have on me and my health? Thanks.
Researchers have been studying the harmful effects of drugs for what seem like forever, but there’s still some doubt as to how long the brain damage lasts as a result of doing the drugs you have mentioned. However, there is no doubt that the drugs cause brain damage and other health problems.
The most physically harmful (to your brain) of the drugs you mentioned is ecstasy. Ecstasy has been shown to cause brain damage in animal tests and it’s not just minor brain damage either. The brain damage caused by ecstasy is pretty bad. What they don’t know is whether the brain damage is permanent or not. I can say from personal experience that the people I work with who have done ecstasy for a year or two seem to have major thought and mood disorders, more than people who do other types of drugs.
As for marijuana, I consider it to be the most psychologically harmful of all the drugs. I have seen more psychological and motivational problems in pot smokers than anyone else. I’ve treated over 500 young adults and the hardest ones to treat are pot smokers.
So in summary, all the drugs you mentioned are bad for your health, but the long-term harmful health effects of the drugs are hard to determine in many cases. I suggest you visit some medically oriented sites to look at the harmful health effects of the drugs you mentioned or ask your doctor.
