The Latest on Lindsay

Marty Brenner - 6/30/2007

The producers of Lindsay Lohan's latest film are speaking out after the actress checked herself into Promises treatment center in Malibu on Monday. Shirley MacLaine and Rob Hickman, the producers of 'Poor Things,' have released a statement through their publicist on the future of Lindsay's involvement with the film in light of her recent troubles.

"In the spirit of helping Lindsay Lohan and her rehabilitation, we have been asked by Lindsay to comply with her wishes to continue working on 'Poor Things,'" the statement reads. "We are trying to rearrange the shooting schedule to facilitate her working at the end of the shoot to coincide with the completion of her rehabilitation. We wish her love and the blending of mind, body and spirit."

Addiction specialist Marty Brenner of the Domus Retreat says that Lindsay's stint in rehab is not going to be a walk in the park.

"They'll put you through a detox," Marty tells ET. "You'll [enter into] group settings, you'll have chores, you'll wake up at 6 o'clock in the morning [and] go to AA meetings."

This is the second time this year the 20-year-old actress has entered a treatment program. She's expected to stay at least 30 days.

Marty believes someone should be held responsible for Lindsay's wild ways.

"She has no one there parenting her to tell her where to go," he tells ET. "She's a loose cannon. She has so much money she doesn't know what to do with anything. She's just going, going, going ... actually, she's just reaching out for help."

Lindsay's latest rehab stint comes on the heels of reports that the star was out on the town less than 48 hours after being cited for investigation of driving under the influence early Saturday morning.
