Many sex addicts have trouble because of years of conditioning to masturbating to women portrayed in pornography. Videos, movies, and magazines sell this "object" and actually condition men to objectify women's bodies.

To look at a woman in an objectifying manner is a conditioned response. Looking women in the eyes can keep you from completely scanning her as you would an object you might purchase.

To keep eye contact while talking to a woman may be difficult at first because of your own guilt, shame, or lack of self-esteem, but doing this can make it harder for you to start fantasizing while being looked at directly. Looking your partner in the eyes during a sexual experience will also help you stay more relational, you will experience your partner as a person, not an object. Hopefully this is a person you would not want to hurt by fantasizing about. Remember eyes first and stay there, it can keep you from further trouble.
