In recovery as we discussed earlier, a phone call may be your only link back to reality. In a moment, your addiction can sweep you off your feet and have you swirling in thoughts, pictures, devices and an entire host of other feelings. It is as if you fell off a boat and it is moving away leaving you in the midst of a storm. Somehow you now need to connect to the boat so that someone, anyone, can throw you a life preserver to save your life.
In the case of the sex addiction storm, you can pull out your phone card, call someone and be pulled safely back to the shore of recovery from the waters of sexual addiction. If you were left to yourself, you may have drowned this time.
Simply put, keep phone numbers in your wallet, car, home and your office so that at any place or time you can call someone when you feel the storm coming on or while it may be in full swing so that you don't have to experience a relapse that day. Remember you can't recover alone. It is much better to call first than to relapse and call later. The calling card is one tool that can tremendously help you. So make one as soon as possible.
